That address is correct and...Wow...What a gift! I'll be really embarrassed if I can't figure out how to doctor a photo. I'm sure the computer guru can give me some pointers...we'll make it work!!! :-)

I really appreciate all the support. This is wonderful!

So I just did a quick google search for "handcrafted jewelry" so I could look for good examples. Here were a few worth looking at to help shape ideas about what a site might look like. I added what i like and don't like about each one.

http://www.tobydesign.com/index.php
What I like: clean design, minimal text, great photography, modern look with clean lines, interactivity (can click to join a mailing list, can use a wish list, can also leave comments in some areas)
What I don’t like: some navigational issues (I once had trouble getting back to the home page from where I was on the site), some organizational issues (I like that you can read about jewelry care on the site, but I would never have guessed to look for that topic under “About Toby”)

What I like: design of the home page is a good example of what’s big in design right now—very modern lines with something curvy thrown in to offset the boxiness all those lines can cause. So she uses these floral, curly-cue designs throughout.
What I don’t: You can see right away how photography makes a difference. The TobyDesigns photography allows you to really see the jewelry. The photography here is less good. In some photos, I can’t really see the jewelry well enough to decide if I like it. GoogleAds on this page, too. They’re much less prominent than on the SW Creations page, but they still detract, I think.

What I like: The home page is great if you just look at the green box with the photos in it. That part is nicely designed and clean. I also like the interior pages. Click on “For Her” and you’ll see what I mean: it has a nice menu that gives you several ways to browse (great when it comes to jewelry…I might be there for earrings, or I might just be there for something made with amber, or I might just be able to afford something under $30—very helpful to have different ways to shop). Great photography. There are no GoogleAds!
What I don’t like: The home page—everything below the green square with the photos in it. First of all, a viewer might not even scroll down to see that stuff. Secondly, it really mucks up what is otherwise a nice home page.

This is a good example of a TERRIBLE site. Look at all that text! Are they selling jewelry or words?? The jewelry really takes a backseat. And the menu is too cumbersome. They need to organize better. Having GoogleAds on there brings them some revenue, maybe, but it looks really awful.

I think I have my very first booth opportunity! Jaren and I visited our local farmer’s market this morning, which my Neighborhood Association organizes annually. Not only did I get a HUGE bag of apples for $1, I was reminded that the season ends with a Fall Fair, complete with farmers AND artisans. Not to make this sound too big and important. The market is really small. The event will be more like a mini-family reunion than anything, complete with a pumpkin patch for photos, face painting and homemade pumpkin juice. Regardless, this will be a great way to sell my “practice” pieces and earn some investment income to use toward higher quality supplies. Since I’m a standing member of the association, my booth rental fee will be a whopping $3. So, I have until the end of September, which should allow ample time to work out some booth display options, get a couple of jewelry crafting classes under my belt and build inventory. I can’t wait to start experimenting with Photoshop Elements!

That sounds like the perfect test-run, Jen. I'd like to try to come down for that....

That would be cool but I have a feeling it will be rather anticlimactic. The market really does just appeal to folks within walking distance (including me). I don't expect any outrageous sales or foot traffic. It would still be nice to see you, though.
